Ascend even further beyond as your empire becomes the powerhouse of the galaxy with these powerful new ascension perks!




This mod adds 12 new Ascension Perks to the game, 9 of which are further extensions of vanilla perks, and 3 of which are entirely new creations with different effects. Unfortunately I'm no artist so the icons aren't that pretty.


I highly recommend you grab a mod to expand your ascension perk slots. Fountain Of Youth - Gain Immortality through the research of a mysterious substance found in space. Eternal Youth has its perks, and each leader type gains its own specific benefits, on top of a species wide increase of many aspects.

Engineered Excellency - Ever wish you had more trait points? Wish no more, this perk will give you 5 species trait points. Enjoy the benefit from whatever your heart wants as you no longer have to choose between being erudite or being fertile.

Optimised Refining - Running a deficit on crystals? Need more volatile motes? Spam construct synthetic refineries no more, with improved optimisation of existing extraction and refining, this perk grants you an increase of 50% of all production of Volatile Motes, Rare Exotic Gases, and Rare Crystals. Not to mention that it also increases your empire storage capacity by 30000 as existing refineries have redundant areas dismantled and repurposed for storage.

Planet Expansion - Starting planet run out space to construct districts? Need just that little extra room in your tall empire? Look to planet expansion for your solution. This perk grants you the ability to expand the size of your planets 5 times per planet, giving you another planet district slot.

Our True Vision - With 3.3, Unity is more important than ever. Make sure you're not left in the dust with this upgrade to your unity production. Being a united people also means you're more easily able to find good leader recruits, so you'll enjoy an additional 2 leader choices when recruiting a new leader.

Technological Revolution - Having the best technology is a must for an empire that hope to remain relevant in an ever changing galaxy. This simple perk that increases your research speed, and adds 2 more research slots, meaning you can find the tech you want much more consistently.

Fortify Our Grasp - Ever found yourself with too many choke points and not enough resources to beef those choke points up with a lovely citadel? With this perk you can enjoy an additional 10 starbases, along with a slight increase to your mining and research station.

Galactic Control Force - Ships. You need more of them if you want to control the galaxy. This perk will increase your navy capacity and fleet command limit by a flat amount, slightly decrease your upkeep costs, and then additionally increase your navy capacity by 10%. Don't complain if you end up with too many ships.

Executive Overhaul - Edicts can be pretty expensive, with an overhaul to the way executive administration works, you can squeeze in one or two more edicts before your unity takes a hit. On top of that it turns out your districts weren't as efficient as they could be, and with this perk you'll see a reduction of 10% in your district upkeep cost.

Neural Design - By mapping, designing, and modifying neural pathways, your people are smarter than ever. Enjoy an increase to your max leader level (the max level of 10 still applies) and an increase of 50% in your leader experience gain.

Prioritised Diplomacy - How can you hope to prosper in a galaxy if you lack the resources to engage in meaningful diplomacy? With this perk you'll gain an extra 5 envoys, amongst boosts to your vassal integration and your subject trust cap.

Engineering Paradigm Shift - To survive in a galaxy is to live in a galaxy. Harvest the resources of the galaxy, create great wonders, and prosper. This perk grants you an increase of 2 to your megastructure building capacity, a significant increase to megastructure build speed, a reduction in cost of building megastructures, and an increase to the output of megastructures, that means more science, more energy, and more minerals!

This should be compatible with most other mods as it shouldn't overwrite any other files from vanilla or other mods.


This mod hasn't been balanced very well, it's mostly designed to make your empire more fun to play. Some perks may be too strong, some too weak. If you wish to give input on balancing please do so on the discussion thread labelled "Balancing"


If you have any cool ideas for an ascension perk, let me know in the suggestions discussion thread. I'm more interested in adding perks that expand the game in a more fun way, such as expanding planets, modifying districts, upgrading existing buildings, or just making your empire feel more unique, so any suggestions of those types will be more likely to be implemented, but really any idea is welcome.

Erudite overwrites the "youth" trait for leaders. It doesn't delete their immortality, but it does remove the buffs youth provides. Not sure how to fix this as I'm not sure why they're mutually exclusive to each other in the first place.

Expand planet uses a vanilla icon. I couldn't come up with a nice looking icon so I just re-used the hydrocentric expansion icon. Might cause an issue if you don't have the DLC, but I think it should be fine.

The artistry of the mod. I'm not an artist, and even though I took quite a bit of time (probably too much time) trying to make every icon in the mod look nice enough that it's not an eyesore. If anyone wants to create any nice artwork for this let me know.
